Operating by Path of Least Resistance

When you look at any system, the equation is going to be about the same; a compilation of input (effort) turning into a corresponding output (results). This is no exception when it comes to doing business in the insurance industry. The proverbial totem pole is measured by success when it comes to producers, agencies, and carriers which all stem from the same equation. When you are in a competitive industry, you have to identify how you are going to work your way up the totem pole. This typically comes in the form of more input than the competition but sometimes, there is a path of least resistance; we call this working smarter not harder.

The insurance industry is unique because there is an unlimited warehouse full of policies to sell and your resources are never going to run dry. The best way to use this to your advantage (aka move more product) is by listening and reacting accordingly. More often than not, you’re proactively told how to succeed with the individuals you’re dealing with. If your client wants you to communicate with them over text message, you're going to do it, right? If your referral partner asks you to give them an easy way to refer you business, you're going to find a way to make that happen, right? One of your policyholders is requesting proof of insurance in a timely manner, you're going to go out of your way to make that happen, correct? All of these scenarios are opportunities to work smarter, not harder. By taking the time to cut down on your input and turning your business into a well-oiled machine, you can (and should) find resources to make it work.

Whether it's a piece of technology to delegate resources and save time, a new system or process that you can leverage to improve your operations, or a method that you adopt that equates to better business, you can (and should) do this!
